What’s this?
Fanfare is an interactive sound walk. This walk is only suitable for mobile phone.
You start strolling. Suddenly you hear a gloomy marching band play, right behind you. When you stop, they stop. As soon as you continue to walk, there they are again. Eagerly following you. Clingy. They will keep you company and play four new music compositions, one for each season.
Specially for the November Music Festival, a new version of this soundwalk will be available starting November 7, 2025. You’ll be walking in the Bossche Broek area in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, starting at the Sterrebosweg. You can choose the route yourself, and how long it takes. As long as you keep walking, the marching band continues to play!
How does it work?
1. You’ll need: a charged phone with mobile network access, and headphones. Make sure your sound is on. Before going to the location, check if this soundwalk works on your phone by following the steps below.
2. For iPhone users: Before you start, give permission to use the motion sensor. Click on ‘Click here to allow’ and ‘allow’. If you accidentally rejected permission, close the browser or clear the cache, reopen the page, and give permission.
3. Important: make sure your phone’s display stays on. You can do this by regularly tapping on your screen, or better: go to Settings to ‘Display and brightness’ or ‘Display’ and extend the time of the Auto lock/Screen Timeout.
4. Open the walk (button below), wait until you see ‘Ready!’, and check if you have sound when you shake your phone. If you don’t have sound, you could try it on another browser first. This sound walk should work on most phones, but if it doesn’t, November Music has several compatible devices available for loan. If you have sound, you’re ready to go to Bossche Broek and start your walk! Choose sound file I Winter, press start, and start walking. Walk for a while and see what happens when you stop and start walking again. Go through all four sound files successively. Have fun!
Tip: if you first open the page (button below) with WiFi (at home), the audio will already be downloaded.
